Curvy Kate Luxe: The Full Bust Strapless

April 29, 2015

Functional underwear isn’t particularly exciting.  It exists to serve a purpose – problem solve and correct – and for that reason it isn’t usually the most thrilling of under garments.  But it does have to do the job right, so we actually have higher expectations of solution lingerie to perform in the ways we demand.

If you’re full busted you’ll be well versed in the trials and tribulations of the strapless bra.  In fact, finding a really good strapless that you can fully trust to stay put is nigh impossible.  It just doesn’t seem to exist in the world of the busty.  Well, I’d like to finally draw a line in the sand because I believe I’ve found the one.

Curvy Kate‘s Luxe collection brings their multiway bra to the table.  Available in black or biscotti (a pale beige), the bra is a particularly good option for those who need a small band, as it starts from a 28 back, and also for the larger busted with a cup range up to a J.

The bra is a balcony style with vertically seamed, lightly padded cups. Within the cups resides an outer fabric sling that acts as a side booster.  It’s a classic, plain design with a soft touch microfibre like finish, and a pin stripe pattern to the main body of the bra.

Accompanied with detachable straps you can wear it like a regular bra or as a strapless.  The straps are particularly good because they’re a decent width and have strong metal hardware, so they aren’t going to snap and give way.  The deep band has a silicone grip strip running along the inside and around the wings for that rigid hold, and it closes with a 4 hook wide fastener.

I’m typically a 30GG but in Curvy Kate I find I need to size up a cup, so I wear a 30H Luxe.

While the Luxe doesn’t appear flamboyant it’s definitely a silent hero.  It provides a lovely rounded shape and the fit is just right.  The wires are sufficiently sized and spaced – no nipping or digging from angry wires that fall short or disappear under the armpit.  Just a comfortable fit well formed to my shape.

The support and hold is award worthy.  Not only does it fit how I want it to but it feels incredibly lifted and structured.  It doesn’t slip down my torso, I don’t fall out of the cups.  It’s actually amazing!

Do I recommend the Luxe?  Absolutely!  If you’ve struggled with strapless bras that don’t stay put and are next to useless containing your boobs, then the Luxe is so worth a try.  Some of the Star in a Bra Top 10 girls wore the Luxe on their photoshoot which speaks volumes – it looks amazing and fits not only me but figures of all shapes and sizes.

Do you think it’s possible for a strapless bra to fully support big boobs?

Have you tried any full bust strapless bras lately?

I’d love to hear your experience with strapless and multiway bras.

Have you ever tried the Deco strapless bra from Freya? I have been looking for an alternative the my Wonderbra Ultimate Strapless, as it’s gotten to be a little too small in the cups recently, and I prefer smooth cups for a strapless bra (rather than the appearance of the Luxe, with its seams), since I would most likely be wearing it with tops made of lighter material for summer.

Is this worth a try if your chest isn’t exactly firm?
