PYJAMA DAY | Hunker Down in Hunkemöller Pyjamas

November 22, 2018

You can’t knock a good old pyjama day.  Snuggled up on the sofa with a good movie and hot drink, wrapped up in the fluffiest blanket and your comfiest pjs.  To me, it’s one of the few pleasures to winter’s hostility; thanks to cold wet weather days guilt-free hibernation is yay-okay!

I would actually go as far as saying I’m a pyjama nut.  I love pyjamas and I’m always convinced I need another pair in my drawer.  I don’t, but when they’re adorable and cute and ridiculously cosy looking, I can’t help myself.  Pyjamas are life.

Winter is when pyjamas really come into their own, especially when you live in an old stone house in the back of beyond like I do. Plus I have Raynaud’s disease which means I’m basically an icicle. So good pyjamas are actually one of life’s essentials.

Dutch lingerie and loungewear brand, Hunkemöller, were keen to hear my thoughts on their pyjamas, which of course was an offer I just had to take them up on.  As they do actually retail online here in the UK, it meant no confusing conversions or worldwide shipping to worry about.

I’m not especially fussy about my nightwear matching exactly, but it does feel nice to wear a properly co-ordinating set.  So I was really interested to see Hunkemöller selling both separates and sets, and I found the most adorable pyjamas.

In a very nordic inspired, contemporary fair isle design featuring penguins and snowflakes no less, this pyjama set is the most seasonally appropriate nightwear ever. Consisting of a long sleeve top and full length legging style bottoms, the cosy knit pyjama two piece is as stylish as it is cosy.

The stretchy fabric, knitted with a softness that feels cosy to the touch, is what makes the fit so comfortably snug.  The muted grey and white tones are my favourite colourway; trimmed with soft grey marl ribbed detailing, the pyjamas are an easy, low key look for winding down in.

The regular fit top is a stylish crew neck design finished off with a line of practical buttons. With full length sleeves, it’s a pyjama top made for the utmost warmth.

The bottoms are loosely styled on a legging shape, but with a lovely relaxed cut. Featuring gorgeously deep ribbed ankle cuffs and an elasticated ribbed waistband, they’re designed for the ultimate comfort.

As I typically wear sizes 14 to 16 (UK) I was unsure how Hunkemoller’s small, medium and large sizing would translate. So I plumped for the large and hoped for the best. Thankfully the large was the perfect size, fitting me well with ample room without being overly big.

Having never purchased from Hunkemöller before I was intrigued to find out what they’d be like.  I was actually really surprised, in a positive way, to find it’s a quality brand.  The pyjamas wear and wash beautifully. They’re super comfy to lounge around in as they are to wear to bed, feeling lovely and warm to snuggle down in – just perfect for a winter’s retreat!

How do you spend your chill out days?
