Bridal Solutions: Freya Deco Darling

March 18, 2015

Spring is the most popular season for tying the knot, and no surprise why.  It’s light, bright and full of new beginnings, with the Spring blooms and blossom making the most popular months of May and June the prettiest time to marry.

The bridal gown is one of the biggest focal points of a wedding, but while all eyes are on the dress, there’s a whole lot of unseen mystery beneath the raw silk and lace.

Bridal lingerie can be as structured or simple as you desire.  Your choice of lingerie ought not to dominate your big day, but fantastic, well chosen pieces can arm you with that extra support.

Much loved Freya have just introduced their new look Deco Darling collection with brides in mind.

Based upon the Deco with its reliable support and smooth fit, the bridal Deco Darling echoes the beautiful rose base design from last season’s colour-way, this time in an all over neutral, ivory shade.

The richly embroidered rose detailing sets Deco Darling apart from previous lines; it’s sumptuous and luxurious, yet clean and classical by its simple colour scheme.  Only decorative trinkets nod to the ‘something blue’ wedding ritual.

I wanted to explore solution options and thought the Moulded Strapless bra (RRP £40) and High Waist Smoothing brief (RRP £18) were the ideal co-ordinating set for the complex needs of a bride.  Freya sent me the 30GG and medium sizes, together with a surprise garter (RRP £15).

The strapless bra can be worn with or without straps and has the benefit of total seam-free cups, so it’s a very versatile choice of bra.  It’s worth noting that if you’re looking for a bra with narrow straps the strapless is a good option, since its straps are slimmer than the plunge bra’s.  Like many strapless bras, the Deco Darling features gripping to the band’s elastic that aids a more rigid fit.

Comparing my last season Deco Darling plunge bra to this year’s moulded strapless there’s a marginal difference in the fit, despite them both being a 30GG.  The strapless has a firmer hold given by its generous 4 hook deep fastening (for G-GG, otherwise 3), but its band is slightly shorter by as much as 1cm-1.5cm.

The deep waisted briefs are as gorgeous as they are wonder pants!  Being high fitted, it means no muffin top, just a sleek silhouette.  For a solution brief I would personally choose slightly more coverage on the bum in the hope of working some magic on my less than smooth butt and lumpy thighs.  But, as these are not called shaping briefs but smoothing, they are fab for helping along a more svelte tummy.

The Deco family has long been a favourite range of mine.  With smooth moulded bras at its core, Deco is the perfect line to offer more problem solving underwear, which makes the bridal addition so fitting.  Deco Darling is a gorgeous collection that’s not only reliable but completely wearable and modern – ideal for any occasion; traditional wedding or otherwise.

Are high waisted knickers sexy on wedding night though? I think so but some might not agree?

Wedding night lingerie isn’t necessarily worn throughout the day. I think big knickers can be sexy, but if what your partner is wearing to bed is a concern then the marriage is doomed! 🙂

I love high-waisted knickers, wedding night included. The Deco Darling High Waist Brief is close to being the style of panty I buy for myself. I love the high waist and the look of the gusset, though it’s higher cut (shorter side seams) than I would normally wear. I was wondering how strong and stretchy the elastic at the leg openings are. It’s a very pretty brief!
