Freya Lingerie : Pansy Longline Reviewed

Dark floral prints are in abundance this Autumn and nailing the trend right on is Freya Lingerie’s newest collection, Pansy.  A beautifully vibrant print in a colour palette of deep blues and violets, Pansy is one hot to trot lingerie set!

When I first saw the midnight colour Pansy print I just instantly loved it.  It’s not everyday a humble little flowerbed favourite is the leading lady, and this gorgeous flurry of flowers is an instant feel good design.

Freya have released Pansy in the balcony and longline style of bras, with briefs, shorts and a thong to mix and match.  There’s also a chemise which is a stunning addition to the range.

Freya’s longline bras receive much adoration, for very good reason – the deep style and half cups make for a very cute bra top with good support – but with cup sizes stopping short of anything G+ means it’s the balcony for many.  (Fingers crossed a wider range of sizes will be introduced to the seasonal collections, but in the meantime there is the Deco Shape for a longline GG cup.)

I was really keen to finally try a longline so I plumped for a 30G as opposed to my usual 30GG in Freya.  Unfortunately the 30G was unavailable so I’ve had to try a few sister sizes down: a 32FF.  It really isn’t my size – too small in the cup and far too loose in the band, so this review shall be based upon my opinion of the aesthetic and, shall we say, anticipated fit!  The briefs are my usual medium (12).

The Pansy longline features underwired padded cups and extended front panelling.  Whilst it isn’t boned, the band is a deep 6 hooks wide which gives the bra structure.

The high polyester content fabric feels silky and gives the fit a smooth finish.  The pansy print entirely covers the cups and extends to the under band and up to the front section of the straps.  A black deco style embroidered lace accents the print and looks gorgeous with its scalloped edge.

I am gutted, gutted, that this isn’t my proper size because that aspect is hindering my fit experience, but I just know that the 30G would feel so amazing.  The silky texture is such a lovely feeling fabric that wears well beneath clothes, and the fact the cups are padded make this such a good option for winter.  Even the longline panel makes a cosier, more fitted shape, and it looks unbelievably pretty.

The intoxifying floral print was always the deal-maker for me, but seeing the collection up close I’ve realised how little glory the lace has received.  It’s an exquisite part of the design; understated in true black, exposing the detail that looks like intricate pin pricking.  It’s soft and stretchy too, so fits as good as it looks!

My longline experience has left me eager to try my perfect fit, so I shall anticipate a 30G next time – or better still, a G+ longline!  (Pretty please!)

I love longlines and have been wanting this particular since I first saw it appear in the blog sphere. I’m definately going to order it, but am puzzeled regarding what size to chose since I’ve only tried unpadded Freyas and the Deco before. Would you say that it’s cupwise generally smaller than an unpadded freya or the same?

Hi there. Pansy longline is a different style in the cup, being more of a half cup as well as padded, so it’s not such a straight forward comparison. However, I would say that there really isn’t much in it, as the soft pliable padding is so forgiving. The Deco padded is moulded so it has a rigidity that’s unaccommodating unlike a soft padded cup. I wear a 30GG most often in Freya, yet a 30G is ‘doable’ in a longline, which shows how easy they are to wear.
