Glamorous Gossard ‘Sienna’ Swimwear

April 8, 2015

While it’s only just Spring, it’s never too early to start looking at swimwear.  Holiday season is around the corner and if you’re lucky, you may be jetting off to sunny climes sooner.  Get your beach clobber sorted out now, because this Summer big boobs have a lot to be happy about.

Gossard are a fantastic brand for trend led lingerie, and their swimwear makes no exception.  Whether you’re after something eye catching or elegant, there’s a fab selection this season to choose from.

I wanted to explore Gossard’s classical Sienna line which offers a range of bikini tops, bottoms, and a swimsuit with options up to a G cup.  With this season’s colour in timeless black and Sienna’s feminine styling, it’s a sophisticated collection for the pool or soaking up rays on a yacht.

I paired the 32G Sienna Plunge Bra (£39) with the Large Sienna High Waist Short (£22) for a chic, retro look.  The bra is lightly padded with moulded, plunging cups and fully adjustable straps.

The set as a whole has a goddess vibe about it; extremely glamorous with a retro edge.  The bra’s deep plunging neckline is super bosomy, fitting comfortably and looking gorgeous.  But I experienced some niggles with the design and fit.  At the base of the cups I had empty space which suggests a shallow cup.  I’m pretty ‘heavy on bottom’ so I tend to need deep cups.  Not great for my shape, but not Gossard’s fault.

The second issue is, being honest, a critical one.  The straps are way too stretchy.  Of course, total support shouldn’t be expected of a bra’s straps, but they’re not supportive at all if they’re giving to easily.  Big boobs are weighty by design and do need a certain tension of strap to help keep them in place.  The problem with too much elastication is that its easy to overcompensate and make straps too tight, as you can tell I have done.

The high waist brief is amazing!  The 50s style cut is so flattering on a larger hip and emphasises shapely curves.  The deep cut means you have ample coverage and the ruching detail with metal toggle creates a texture and interest over the tummy area.  I love the shape of these briefs; they make me feel contained and curvy – good for my too often self conscious days.

I also want to just touch on the Sienna Bandeau Plunge Swimsuit (£60) which I received in the 32G.  It’s a classic shape suit with a medium cut leg that features a bandeau top with detachable straps.  The plunging cups are padded so to offer an enhanced cleavage.

Sadly I can’t show you how the suit fits as I had a bit of a struggle getting it on past my thighs (yep, it wasn’t pleasant for the seams).  So even though this, at a 32G, is my size, it demonstrates how one pieces sized by bra size don’t always work.  Gossard’s online sizing guide recommends that a 32 equates to a UK 10-12 but to fit my size 14 requirement I would need a 34 or 36 band, which I would find just too loose.

Comparing the difference in cup padding of the swimsuit and bikini top is visually interesting.  I was surprised to find the swimsuit has a substantial pocket of padding at the base of the cup, while the bra is just the foam cup with no additional boost.  I personally found the push up effect of the swimsuit a little intense, but considering the plunge bra it may have helped fill the devoid area.

What I like about this swimsuit is the cut of the fabric over the waist and tummy with swathes of fabric and clever ruching.  It’s a gorgeous design you wouldn’t normally expect of a simple black swimsuit, yet it manages to be demure and stylish at the same time.

How long is the one piece swimsuit, approximately? I REALLY want it and it’s exactly what I’ve been looking for but I’m 5’0 tall and I’m afraid the body would be way too long on me. How tall are you?

I’ve just measured it now. From the central gore to the gusset laid flat it’s 47cm. I’m 5’8″ tall. Bear in mind I couldn’t get it on though, so you may be in luck!

The bottoms are absolutely perfect on you. Rarely do high waisted, low legged briefs give such a great non-blocky shape on an hourglass figure. These are simply fantastic. I think you should snap them up, if they’re offered separately, & pair them with another patterned/black top you love the fit of!

I love the look of that Gossard Sienna High Waist Black Swimwear Short. I see they are also available in red. The Gossard website has an un-modeled view of the swimwear short that looks like it’s full coverage, but I still wonder what the back view would look like while being modeled.

The pink colourway is a previous season, but it’s a gorgeous one, isn’t it?! 🙂
