Parfait Darlene in Serenity ‘Summer Blue’

April 1, 2016

Lingerie is having a blue moment, and it’s every inch a cheerful affair.  Colour authority, Pantone, has selected a whimsical theme for 2016 naming not one but two colours of the year, with powder blue Serenity (alongside blush Rose Quartz) headlining the most desirable colours.

Serenity blue, with its soothing tranquil tones, reminiscent of fresh Spring mornings and sunlit bluebells, has been picked up by trend responsive lingerie brands already.  New season collection, Darlene, by Parfait is introduced in their Summer Blue colourway, reflecting this gorgeous, completely Spring idealist shade in a nutshell.

Parfait has long been a favourite by fuller bust bra wearers, and despite the trepidation to expand further into larger cup sizes like they did with best selling Charlotte, the brand caters well for the sub Gs.

Thankfully, I borderline G to H cups so I’m able to find a good fitting size in Parfait.  And it’s worth remembering, that you aren’t necessarily the same size across brands.  I find that Parfait runs generous in the cup which has helped me immensely with proper fitting.

Parfait provided me with the Darlene lingerie set so I could try it out for myself.

The previous Parfait collections I reviewed, including Kitty and Elena helped me gauge that a 32G would be a good place to start, and it did prove to be the perfect size option.

Darlene is another of Parfait’s unpadded, underwired bras that I find they excel at making.  The level of coverage and support is a perfect combination that looks really pretty and so well fitting.  Deep side supports provide front projection shape and extra security.  It seems to have an uplift effect on the bust too, as it’s taking weight off your shoulders and distributing it into the structure of the bra.

Darlene is a good everyday bra option as its design is easily wearable.  The wide straps are fully adjustable with its deep band fastening on three rows of hooks, so it’s adaptable and solid in its foundation.

I particularly like the combination of the medium level support with a pretty and delicate feel, as it makes the design so much lovelier to wear.  The soft touch lace drapes like a second skin, while the narrow elasticated edge to the upper cups means the fabric lays flat without needing restrictive trimmings.  This is often an area of contention when bras and boobs don’t play ball and tight ribbon will clash with rounded fullness.  Not so with Darlene’s less aggressive approach to fabric laying how it should and looks best.

Parfait’s briefs are a favourite of mine when it comes to co-ordinates.  They’re always butt-generous and comfy, and the 14 is an excellent fit for me.

The Darlene shorty is a good brief in particular because they’re low on the hip yet wide on the bottom.  The front panel matches the bra with its detail heavy soft lace while the back is a soft handle, plain mesh.  They’re well elasticated around the waist and leg, but the bottom is seam-free which is perfectly styled for avoiding a visible panty line.

Darlene is a classic beauty in the making.   The result is a fantastic look; a rounded bust-line, supported and encased within soft, smooth lined cups with a feminine, easy to wear brief.  It seems to be the ideal mix of classically modern.  It’s youthful and on trend with a consistency that makes you forget what you’re wearing, which really is the sign of a good bra.

What do you think of Pantone’s Serenity colour for 2016?  Do you like this shade of pastel blue?  What about your experience of Parfait – how do you get on with their lingerie?  I’d love to hear in the comments below.

Gorgeous colorway! How do you find their wires, in terms of height and rigidity? And the band tightness? Parfait is known for running a band size small, and reviews of some styles seem to indicate that wire height rivals Panache. Yikes! That would not be a good thing for me.

You look lovely with Darlene wow! <3 So feminine and delicate!

I love this shade of blue! I've almost fell for the new bluebell Panache Andorra (which I reviewed) and I cannot wait to get my hands on the Cleo Marcie bluebell colorway! <3 It's such a romantic and spring-y shade!

I love this set. I’m a big fan of Parfait’s unpadded bras in particular Carole which I’ve got in two colours. I saw this on your recent top 10 post and knew immediately it’d be one to get. The only problem is finding them in the UK – any idea of stockists for this? I’d love to get the set.
