Fantasie Jana | Review & Giveaway
What’s wonderful about the world of lingerie is that there’s always something new, a brand you’ve never tried, meaning a heap of opportunity to explore new designs and fit.
Freya Lingerie’s older sister, Fantasie, is one of those brands I’d much admired but never actually owned. Its pieces are pricier, though the aesthetic of the more mature collections have a certain luxe quality that justifies the price tag. Opulent yarns and sumptuous fabric appear to be Fantasie’s signature style.
Online lingerie store Clara Olivia got in touch with me to ask if I’d like to review a bra. I’d worked for the company a few years ago when it was under different ownership, so to hear the store was still going strong under new management was great to hear. Clara Olivia sell familiar brands for large busts, and I took this as the perfect opportunity to sample something new to me, which was why Fantasie was the natural choice.
I opted to try the Jana side support balcony bra in black, which I had sent to me in my usual Freya size of 30GG.
The light fabrication and feint jacquard design is a classical look that’s easy to wear as an everyday bra. The balcony bra is available from an E to a K cup in bands 30-40, so its a viable option for larger busts and the fuller figure. The moulded bra goes up to a GG and looks to be a more plunging shape, something that does appeal to me.
Jana’s underwired balcony style offers a fantastic level of support, together with it’s deep three hooks wide band and decent strap width. The four section cups have the added benefit of a durable side support which does make a different to the level of support when wearing the bra.
What surprised me about Jana was how different the fit between Fantasie and Freya proved. I had mistakenly assumed that since the two brands were similar, both by ownership and their design, they would be the same fit. I found the 30GG to be on the small side in the cup, compared to Freya that I can wear comfortably in the same size. The top section of the cups cut in to my breast tissue, leading me to think this style doesn’t best suit me. An increase in cup to the 30H would most likely be too big overall.
As it goes with the trials and tribulations of lingerie fitting, not every bra will be right for every person. Although I’ve found this style may not be best for me, I love the fact Fantasie offer plunge styles too, and seeing as plunging gores are my favourite, I’m keen to look into the Jana moulded option.
Whether you love and wear Fantasie lingerie already or are itching to try the brand yourself, this is your chance! Clara Olivia is giving Becky’s Boudoir readers the opportunity to win a fabulous Fantasie Jana set, with a choice of black or nude colourway, and a brief, short or thong.
